A Fresh Approach for Our Communities
Dear Neighbors,
Thank you for taking the time to learn about my campaign and what I stand for. Since moving to Los Angeles from Mexico City over twenty years ago, my strong sense of civic duty and pride has driven me. In that time I have been appointed Neighborhood Council Budget Representative to the Mayor’s Office, and elected Vice Chair of the Los Angeles Neighborhood Council Coalition, Treasurer of LANCC, and Board Member of the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council. I also believe in equality and fairness for all and have served Bienestar Human Services (non-profit serving the latino community), The National Women’s Political Caucus, Bike Out (non-profit serving LGBT youth), and the Human Rights Campaign.
I have seen the disconnect between City Hall and the residents of our neighborhoods. Poor policy decisions lead to untenable development, untrimmed trees, broken sidewalks, and potholes. New businesses are hindered by unnecessary regulatory hurdles, leaving empty retail spaces throughout our neighborhoods. The city has too eagerly relied on emergency services to help our homeless. And parking violations have become a source of revenue rather than a means of parking enforcement. Finally, the Greek Theater contract and Barham ramp exit shutdown reflect the lack of consideration for local residents.
The status quo simply isn’t working. It’s time we look for leadership outside our currently elected officials and their staff, and I believe I am the best candidate to represent your values in City Hall. With your support we can bridge the divide that makes city government ineffective by making policy decisions transparently and by taking the unique needs of each historical neighborhood into account, and most importantly, by listening to you.
Sincerely,
